What a great morning from BURTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT where we are part of a SMALL TOWN with BIG DREAMS!!!
March 30, 2020
So, I recently read an article by Rachel Ashworth Head of Customer Success with Swivl, one of the many online learning tools who offered some great takeaways on self-care during the COVID-19 crisis.
Week Three of uncertainty and information overload and with all that is going on, the internet is abuzz with the best and brightest giving their two cents on how to create authentic remote learning in a jiffy and then on the other hand, there are so many experts with advice on webinars, blogs, TWITTER, that it’s been a little difficult to focus.
Though there is much yet to learn and more opportunities to improve the systems we’re still building, take time to revitalize. A resounding takeaway is-let go and focus only on what you can control.
Teaching remotely should not mean exhausting yourselves, trying to drum up ways to make learning exactly the same or better than it was in your classrooms. Just think differently. We all should!
Along with us, students and parents are dealing with more stress than we could imagine.
Take care of your mental health right now.
"While it is good to stay informed, the non-stop news coverage and social media chatter about the virus feeds anxiety as much as it informs and eases fear. The key here is balance. There’s a fine line between staying informed and feeling overwhelmed by the news."
Work with your mind to stay calm during this pandemic.
"If you’re like most educators in our country, you’re at home right now. Trying to figure out how to teach in this new frontier. It’s like the first day of the first year of teaching all over again. It probably feels that way every day that you wake up. A bizarre Groundhog’s Day movie in which you star."
You’re doing the best you can...and that’s enough!
We know you never stop putting your kids first no matter what, support your students, your own children, and each other during these times. Thank you Burton ISD Educators!!! Continued prayers for our schools, our community, and our country. Stay safe and stay well!
I would like to give a huge shout out to our board for supporting us through this difficult time in our schools and community.
As we move forward and return to normalcy at some future date, we welcome you to visit one of the finest school districts in the state of Texas and thank you in advance for taking time to find out about our schools, our professional staff, our exemplary students, and our excellent academic programs. Burton Schools are a perfect place to get an education that will prepare your child for a bright future.
There is a tremendous amount of community support that goes into the success of our programs in Burton ISD. We appreciate everyone who helps make a positive impact on our schools. All of us working cooperatively make Burton ISD better together. Proud to be a BURTON PANTHER!
Please check out our website at www.burtonisd.net to find out more details about all of the activities happening in the BURTON SCHOOLS and to get the latest updates and information on COVID-19.
