What is a Bond? A bond election is a vehicle to raise funds for the building and maintenance of school facilities and associated infrastructure. A successful bond election grants school leaders permission to sell bonds to investors, which generates the funding for construction.

Burton ISD has created a Facility Advisory Committee to review the Master Facility Plan and provide feedback. The Committee examined both the current state of the District’s facilities as well as its future needs. In order to best use facilities and maximize their utility, BISD has called a bond to maintain & renovate its existing buildings and sites and for new construction.

The last bond passed by Burton ISD was 13 years ago, which funded the building of a new elementary school and elementary gym, bus barn and the Ag Building.

Why does Burton ISD need a bond? The bond proposal will address aging buildings, accommodate student growth, renovate existing facilities, athletic upgrades, and more. Want more information? Take a look at BISD's bond website. https://www.burtonbond2021.com

The most significant Burton ISD bond projects will address:
🔒Safety and Security Updates
🏫Burton High School Expansion
🎻Fine Arts
🏈Athletics
⚙️Junior High Expansion
🍴Cafeteria and Kitchen Renovation

It is important to note that Burton ISD residents age 65 and older will not be impacted financially by the proposed bond if they have filed the proper Homestead Exemption with the Washington County Central Appraisal District. Their taxes are frozen and cannot go over their frozen amount.

What a great week to be a Burton Panther!

Burton Independent School District is excited to welcome back 520 students on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 @ 7:55 a.m. sharp for the 2021-2022 school year! Don’t be late for what is going to be an amazing school year!!!

Burton ISD has grown in so many ways, especially in enrollment. Academics and Athletics are going strong. Our staff has been busy participating in Professional Development that will provide innovative learning experiences and opportunities for our students.

Burton ISD will continue to follow the guidance issued by the Texas Education Agency, the Center for Disease Control, the Texas State Health Department, and local health authorities to address COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures. Campus facilities have been cleaned to ready our educational environment for the upcoming school year. Texas Sanitizer Pros have treated all learning areas and our school buses. Face coverings will not be required for students and staff at this time. However, we do respect individual rights to wear one. Burton ISD appreciates your help in keeping everyone healthy and well, therefore we are limiting access to facilities to essential visitors only. At this time, we would request that parents not be allowed to enter the buildings. Please remain in your vehicles during drop-off and pick-up times.

The pride of the Burton Panthers is embedded in all of us whether we are a student, an alumni, a community member, a staff member and employee, a parent, board member and/or a proud supporter and in many cases all of the above. We love our Panthers and like to think that the culture we are providing in educating our students is a reason why parents want their children to attend Burton ISD. We value our school district and always try to do what is in the best interest of students. We look forward to seeing smiling, happy faces kick off another awesome school year for Burton ISD.  So, be prepared to Dream Big, Sparkle More, and Shine Bright as the Future is Now for the Burton Panthers!!! Have a blessed week and GO BIG RED!
